Simon Cowell Leaving American Idol in 2010 after Season 9

Simon Cowell's brother confirms Season 9 will be Simon's Last on American Idol

In his weekly podcast, Tony Cowell says:

Meanwhile, Simon prepares for a new season of Idol, or should I say, his LAST season of Idol. Okay, I will. Because it is. As I sit here in the sunny Caribbean with my family, a press statement is being prepared, which will confirm what everyone expected. Simon will leave Idol at the end of 2010, to concentrate on bringing the American version of The XFactor to U.S. TV in 2011. As for the panel, well, we'll have to wait a few months yet, to get the answer I know you want."

American Idol 2010 2 years ago

American Idol 2010 will be exciting with a new judge. I hope it's not Simon last American Idol.

I wish Paula Abdul go back to the show. I think is not going to be the same without her. Same for Simon, I adore him, I hope he stays and brings back Paula.

I agree with you, American Idol season 9 won't be the same without Paula Abdul. But the good news is that Simon might invite her to be a judge on his new X Factor, the American version which will start in 2011! More information on that on here: http://www.squidoo.com/simon-cowell-last-season-on

I have to say that after watching the first few weeks the show is definitely not the same. The only two people that I feel have any real chance on the show are Michael Lynch and Crystal Bowersox. I think Kara is trying to act like Paula way too much. I am quite diappointed this year with the show.

I have to agree, the contestants are definitely lacking the star power that we've seen in the previous years. I think it might just be that they are adjusting to singing to a live audience, which makes sense but it's time to step up the game. This week is make it break it for me, the ones who pull off performances as good as a winning finale performance will be at the top. And unfortunately I think it's only going to be the 2 you listed and possibly Didi, Siobhan and maybe even Lee.
